The Greenwave Bowling Team closed out their home matches for this season with a match against Piqua at Woodcrest Lanes. What an exciting night it was... I'm still overexcited from what a great night it was. The LadyWave bowlers ended up losing to the #1 team in their division, but it was a nail biter. They only lost by 4 pins!
The girls started out ahead of Piqua by 7 pins after game 1. They tied Piqua on Game 2. In Baker #1, the girls lost to Piqua by 1 pin. The last Baker was close, and Piqua picked up an amazing split to get the win in the 2nd Baker by 10 pins, giving them the overall win by 4 pins. What an exciting match to watch! The girls were led by Addy Arnett with a high score of 179 but Marissa Boney got the high series with a 333.
The Varsity Boys also had an exciting night but their games weren't near as close. In game #1, the boys took an early lead of 57 pins. The 2nd game, things fell apart and we lost by 99 pins to Piqua, giving them a 42 pin advantage going into the Bakers. In Baker #1, the Boys rallied for a 31 pin victory to close the gap within 11 pins.
On the 3rd frame, Johnny Floyd was up to bowl with two strikes starting the game. He had a rough first shot and left a Greek Church. He took an amazing shot and picked up that very difficult spare. The match continued to the 9th and Conner Leas missed his first shot and left a 2-4-10 split. He also converted the spare to keep the Wave in the match.
It all came down to the 10th frame. Scotty Lennartz shot strike #1 and Piqua's Jayden Miller also struck. Scotty took the next shot and delivered another strike where as Piqua's Miller only got 9 and spared. Scotty needed to get 6 pins to tie, 7 to win. He threw a beautiful ball down and picked up 9. Greenville wins by a 3 pin margin. Talk about exciting!!! The boys were led by Scotty Lennartz with a 212 high game and a 369 high series.
On behalf of the Greenville Bowling team, we'd like to extend a sincere thanks to Willie Powell for the use of Woodcrest Lanes again this season and to all of the staff who've helped us out, especially Zach, Tina and Jen. The Greenwave Bowling teams have 2 away matches left for the season before sectionals. Tomorrow they travel to take on Fairborn at Bowl Ten Lanes. GO WAVE!
